NAMI-MC is a dedicated, all volunteer organization whose purpose is to foster hope and respect for individuals with brain illnesses and their families through advocacy, education and support. We also focus on educating the public to eliminate the stigma and misinformation surrounding brain illnesses and to encourage community involvement.

Crisis Intervention Team Training, known as CIT is a pre-booking jail diversion program which trains law enforcement officers how to connect persons in mental health crisis to appropriate mental health services rather than the criminal justice system.
For additional informaton or registration, please contact Mr. Phil Hewett, Sandhills Center Organization Law Enforcement Liaison at (910) 673-0906.
This program, which was based on the Memphis CIT model, was adapted for use here by a partnership which includes Sandhills Center for Mental Health, First Health Moore Regional Hospital, National Alliance on Mental Illness-Moore County, Sandhills Community College, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
